Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota (July 27th, 2021)

The 2021 Blackfish Classic Tournament for Bass was held on Monday July 26th at Lake Minnetonka and was another tournament for the books! In its fourth year, this tournament brought 100 boats with 200 anglers competing for a top prize of $10,000.  The top 15 spots were paid out with checks and multiple other prizes were paid out with Blackfish Gear product credits.

Hosted out of Lord Fletcher’s, teams took off in the morning searching for the five biggest bass to win the tournament. Most of the registered teams brought their limits of largemouth and smallmouth bass with multiple fish coming in over five and six pounds. The big bass of the tournament was caught by Lucas DeYoung weighing 6.12 pounds and was on an All-Terrain Mighty Jig which qualified him for an additional $500 All-Terrain contingency bonus.

The team that brought home the $10,000 top prize this year was Dane Vocelka of Buffalo, MN and Patrick McDeid of Wayzata, MN with a five bass bag of 20.54 pounds with their largest bass weighing in at 6.06 pounds. When asked what they caught their winning bag on they mentioned All-Terrain tackle jigs as some of their primary items used throughout the day. They had their limit in the morning and as the afternoon came they were able to upgrade some of their fish. The second place team of Chase Hull and Matt Chapman weighed in at 19.77 pounds and third place was Paul Coffey and Cody Zdrazil with 18.74 pounds.

This tournament has quickly become one of the premier bass fishing events in Minnesota each year. The combination of high and payouts, prizes, great food, and a five fish bag made this tournament very appealing to all anglers. Registration for this year's event was in high demand with all 100 spots filling up in a record 31 hours after registration opened. This year's tournament would not have happened without the help of many great companies that were involved as sponsors. The sponsors included; All-Terrain Tackle, Blue42 Agency, FVP, In Tune Marine, Johnson Pumps, Outdoor News, RLVNT, Vexus Boats, and Your Boat Club.

The event was broadcasted live on a variety of social media channels with the full weigh-in can be viewed on the Blackfish Gear Facebook page. The complete list of and tournament results are available at www.blackfishclassic.com.
